Life can be extremely difficult sometimes. Often times, we feel as if we cannot even be stretched another millimeter before we break in half. When we feel as if we cannot possibly handle another thing, something big and heavy gets thrown on top of us. The challenge is not only holding all the weight, it is also being stretched beyond capacity.
There is a beautiful Christian song that has become fairly popular, and it brings this point across really well. Check out the YouTube video of the song “He Said” by Group1Crew:
The chorus of “He Said” goes like this:
“I won’t give you more, more than you can take
And I might let you bend, but I won’t let you break
And No-o-o-o-o, I’ll never let you go-o-o-o-o
Don’t forget what He said”
This beautiful song is a great reminder that sometimes we will need to bend, and bending helps us stretch, grow, and learn. Sometimes we are pushed right up to our breaking point, and that stress helps us to become more flexible and to endure.
There is another song out there called “Sometimes He Calms The Storm” by Scott Krippayne. This song is a great reminder that God is in control and His ultimate plan will be fulfilled whether He decides to “calm the storm” or to “calm His child.” Take a listen to this beautiful song.
The chorus of “Sometimes He Calms The Storm” goes like this:
“Suddenly fear is like white water
Pounding on the soul
Still we sail on knowing
That our Lord is in control
Sometimes He calms the storm
With a whispered peace be still
He can settle any sea
But it doesn’t mean He will
Sometimes He holds us close
And lets the wind and waves go wild
Sometimes He calms the storm
And other times He calms His child”
When we feel like we have nothing to hold onto, and we realize that the one thing we do have is faith, it can be hard to accept that we have no control over the situation and it is in God’s hands. We have all hear the phrase, “Let Go And Let God,” but it is much harder to live in this place than many of us think it will be.
Gentle Reminders That Jesus Is With Us And He Is In Control
When you feel like your world is spinning out of control and you cannot be stretched another inch, just remember that stretching builds flexibility and God needs you to become more flexible to fulfill your purpose in His plan. The stretching can be painful, but it is necessary to build strength, character, flexibility, and much more.
