Bible Verse Of The Day ~ Friday, February 3, 2012
Sometimes, as humans, we struggle with complete honesty. This is true of the lies we tell to ourselves and well of the lies we speak to other people. At times, we even try to lie to God. We come up with a hundred different reasons for our half truths and dishonesty. Sometimes it is as simple as not wanting to hurt somebodies feelings. Other times we figure it is easier to just tell part of the story, leave something out, or be completely dishonest. However, as Christians, we are called to walk in the footsteps of Jesus and to try to live as Jesus did. One thing that we learn by looking at scripture and reading about Jesus is that He was ALWAYS honest! Let’s take a look at what scripture has to say about honesty.
Ephesians 4:25
“Therefore, putting away lying, ‘Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,’ for we are members of one another.”
The Implication
We are all called to be one body in Christ. As the hands, feet and mouths of Christ, it is important that we live in truth and that we speak the truth. We have to remember that truth isn’t always fun, and it sometimes involves a bit of conflict, but in order to work through the problem and be one with each other and with Christ, the truth needs to be spoken.
