The Hard Truth About Healing, Or Is It?

Many people find themselves sick, ill, or broken in some fashion or another during different times of their lives. Healing can be difficult sometimes. Many of us put our trust in ourselves or in other human beings, while be pray for healing in Jesus’ name. This can definitely work, but true healing may come from letting go of the illness, ailment, or brokenness and moving out of the way so that God can heal us.

There are many instances and examples of healing in the Bible. Every time Jesus healed somebody, He makes it very clear that their faith healed them. If example after example in the Bible shows us that faith in Jesus heals, we do not heal, it should become obvious to us at some point the method in which we can become healed.

Do you ever notice how much faster children heal than we do and how resilient they are? Many people think that this is because they are young and their bodies are still growing, thus they are more primed to heal. There may become truth to this. However, children also have a lot more trust and are much less likely to fight the process of natural healing than we are. They seem to trust the process and just let their bodies do what they need to do to heal.

We are designed to be whole and healthy beings. We are designed in the image of God. We become broken due solely to free will. When we fight and resist the path that God has for us, and we fight against the design, we injure and break the model. Once the model (us) is broken, we do everything in our power to fix it. However, fixing it may not be in our power.

Have you ever invested in a beautiful car, computer, or electronics item before? If you have and you have had it for a while, you may have experienced it breaking or something going wrong with it. When this happens, you may try to fix it yourself and notice that you just make it worse. You may even temporarily fix it, only to have it break again. If you want it fixed correctly, back to the condition it was when you got it, where is the best place to go to have it fixed? Most people would agree that the place that will fix it back to its new and original condition is the place that designed and built it initially.

If we know this about a car, boat, computer, or other piece of equipment, why do we fight this when it comes to getting ourselves healed? If we go back to the source, and get out of His way and let Him do the work, we can be restored to our original, new, and perfect condition. The key might very well be to drop ourselves off at the shop and “leave.” If we stay underfoot and question everything that the Lord has in store for us, it really slows up the process.

God is capable of fully restoring us and healing us from the inside out or from the outside in. The trick may be to stop questioning His ability. God has given us the gifts of answered prayers in the forms of modern medicine, science, intuition, and knowledge. We need to be willing to utilize the services available to us. However, we also need to be willing to step out of the way of what “everyone else” says we should do and follow the path the Lord has placed at our feet. We have been redeemed, and in Jesus Christ we are whole and perfect beings, made in the image of God.
