About Zuluf & Our Workshop

Every single item is made in Beit Sahour — a small town right next to Bethlehem in the West Bank, Palestine. Beit Sahour is historically known as the Shepherd’s Field, where the angels announced the birth of Jesus. It’s one of the oldest continuously inhabited Christian communities on earth.

We’re not sourcing from China and slapping “Holy Land” labels on things. The olive wood is cut in the Holy Land, carved in our Bethlehem workshop by local artisans, and shipped directly to you.

Over 20 Christian artisan families in Beit Sahour and the surrounding Bethlehem area. Most of these families have been carving olive wood for generations. When you buy from Zuluf, you’re supporting real people in the Holy Land who have chosen to stay and preserve this 2,000-year-old craft.

Yes. Zuluf was founded in 2007 by Elias Zuluf, a Palestinian Christian from Beit Sahour. Our entire team, our artisan families, and our roots are in the Christian community of Bethlehem. Faith is not a marketing angle for us — it’s who we are.

Three reasons: Authenticity, transparency, and impact.

Many olive wood gifts sold online come from manufacturers in China or India with no real connection to the Holy Land — just a label. We manufacture directly in Beit Sahour: no middlemen, no import chains, no shortcuts. We’ve been doing this since 2007, were named Palestine Exporter of the Year in 2017, and have 970+ verified reviews from customers who’ve held the work in their hands.

Since 2007 — 19 years of shipping handmade olive wood gifts from Bethlehem to customers around the world. We’ve survived wars, COVID, and everything in between. We’re still here, still carving, still shipping.

Our Olive Wood Products

We use Holy Land olive wood — sourced from old olive trees in Palestine. Olive wood is extremely dense and hard, giving it those beautiful dark grain patterns. No two items look exactly the same. We only use wood from trees that have stopped producing fruit or been pruned — no healthy olive trees are cut down.

Genuinely handmade. Our artisans shape, carve, and finish each piece by hand. Slight variations between identical products confirm they’re made by people, not machines.

Olive wood does not like extreme dryness. In dry climates, occasionally rub a small amount of food-grade olive oil onto the surface. Keep away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight. For kitchen items, hand-wash only — no dishwasher.

We do some custom work, mainly for larger orders (churches, gift shops, religious organizations). Contact us with what you have in mind and we’ll let you know if it’s possible.

Yes — we work with churches, Catholic schools, retreat centers, and religious organizations regularly. Bulk pricing for orders of 20+ units. Get in touch for a quote.
