About This Figure

The first time you see one of these in person, you stop. It's not a sculpture that sits flat on a shelf. It's a branch, an actual olive wood branch with the bark still on, and right there in the center of it's the face of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns. The carver didn't fight the wood. He worked with what the branch gave him.

At 6.3 x 4.3 x 4.1 inches it's decent enough to hold, heavy enough to feel real. Among the wood carving sculptures for sale on our site, this is one I keep coming back to. There's something about the way the natural grain runs across the face that no two pieces will ever repeat. One carving, one branch, one face. That's it.

If you're looking for a figures hand carved piece that came from a real place and real hands, this is it. Made in Bethlehem, where it means something to carve this particular face.

From Our Family to Yours

Hi, I'm Elias. I've been around olive wood my whole life, and branch carvings like this one are among the pieces I'm most careful about. The bark has to stay intact, the face has to sit right in the form, and the grain has to cooperate. When I find a batch that's done properly, I hold onto it. This is one of those. If you're looking for an olive wood handcarved Jesus for sale that's actually from Bethlehem, not a warehouse somewhere, this is where that starts.

Perfect As a Gift

A priest in Pennsylvania ordered one of these for his parish office after seeing it on a retreat. He told me later that visitors always ask about it before they ask about anything else in the room. It's that kind of piece. It holds attention.

It works beautifully as a figures baptism gift or a figures confirmation gift, something with real weight behind it, not just a card. People order it as a figures christmas gift and a figures easter gift too. We've had it go out as a figures wedding gift for couples who wanted something that came from the Holy Land. If you want to figures order online and have it arrive ready to give, we pack it carefully and ship it fast. Free US shipping when your order is over $50.

The Story Behind It

Most wood sculptures for sale online come out of a factory somewhere, sanded smooth, identical to the one before and after. These don't. The families making this piece have been carving olive wood in Bethlehem for generations, and branch carvings like this one take more skill than a flat plaque. You have to read the branch first. Figure out where the face wants to sit.

The olive wood itself comes from annual pruning of living trees. Nothing gets cut down for this. The wood indian statue tradition of carving figures from natural forms is something these families have understood for a long time, and this piece fits into that same thinking, let the material lead. I respect that approach, honestly.

When you order a figures for sale piece like this one from us, it ships factory-direct. No middlemen, no markups from import chains. Just the family that carved it, our shop, and you.

Care Instructions

Olive wood from the Holy Land is low maintenance. If it starts looking a little dry, rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a cloth and that's all it needs. Don't soak it in water, don't leave it somewhere that gets very humid for long stretches. Otherwise, just let it be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it real olive wood or just looks like it?

Real olive wood. Actual branch, bark still on it. The carver works with the natural shape, doesn't sand it down into something generic.

Does it come in a gift box or do I need to wrap it myself?

So here's the thing, we pack it well for shipping but it's not in like a fancy retail gift box. I'd say grab a small box if you're gifting it. The piece itself is striking enough that presentation is pretty secondary once someone sees it, but yeah, no ribbon situation happening from our end.

Does it ship fast?

Pretty standard, ships in a couple days usually. Free shipping if you're in the US and you're over fifty bucks.

This is handmade in Bethlehem, right? Not just 'inspired by' or whatever?

Yeah, genuinely from Bethlehem. I've packed hundreds of these myself. The families carving them are Christian artisans, same ones we've worked with for years. I get asked this a lot and I get why, there's a lot of stuff out there that says handmade and... isn't. This is the real thing. Handmade olive wood, not a factory import with a sticker on it.

What's the actual weight feel like, is it flimsy?

It's not flimsy at all, I actually keep one on my desk and the weight surprises people every time they pick it up. 6.3 inches, solid branch, it's got real heft to it.
