About This Figure
There's a moment when you first pick this up where you just stop. The weight of it, the warmth of the grain, the lamb tucked against his chest. It's not small, 12.4 inches tall, and it fills your hands the way a piece should when someone spent real time carving it.
This is a hand-carved olive wood good shepherd sculpture, made by Christian artisan families right in Bethlehem. No mold, no factory. The figure exists because someone sat down with a block of olive wood and worked until the shepherd appeared in it. If you're looking at wood sculptures for sale and wondering what separates something like this from a shelf piece, it's that. The hand behind it.
If you want to order a figures hand carved piece that actually looks like it came from somewhere, this is it. You'll find yourself pausing in front of it more than you expect.
From Our Family to Yours
Hi, I'm Elias. I've been around these sculptures since I was a kid, watching the carvers work, running my hands over pieces before they were finished. This Good Shepherd is one of those figures I'd genuinely keep for myself. The grain on olive wood good shepherd pieces like this one comes out differently every time, and that's not a flaw, that's the whole point. Every piece ships factory-direct from Bethlehem, no middlemen.

Perfect As a Gift
A pastor in Texas ordered one of these for a confirmation service last spring. He told me he set it on the altar table and half the congregation asked where it came from before the service even started. That's the kind of piece this is.
It works for so many moments. A figures baptism gift, a figures confirmation gift, something meaningful at Christmas or Easter. People also reach for it when they want to mark a wedding or give something that lasts longer than flowers. Free US shipping on orders over $50, and we ship worldwide from Bethlehem.

The Story Behind It
Most wood sculptures for sale online are factory-made in bulk, packed in foam, identical to a hundred others in the same warehouse. Ours aren't. The families carving these pieces live in Bethlehem, a few minutes from where this story actually began.
The olive wood itself comes from annual pruning of living trees. Nobody's cutting anything down. The trees keep growing, the families keep carving, and the craft passes from one generation to the next because orders like yours make it worth continuing. I've watched fathers hand tools to their sons in these workshops. That's not marketing language, that's just what I've seen.
The biblical significance of olive tree wood to this region runs deep, and these carvers know it. They're not just shaping wood. They're working in a tradition that goes back further than any of us can trace. That matters to me, at least, and I think it'll matter to you once you hold it.

Care Instructions
Olive wood is low maintenance. If it starts looking dry after a while, rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a cloth and that's all it needs. Don't soak it in water, and you're good.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this actually handmade olive wood or just painted to look like it?
Real olive wood. You can see the grain running through the whole piece, every one comes out slightly different because of it. No two look exactly alike.
Does it come in a gift box or do I need to wrap it myself?
So this is something I get asked a lot actually... yeah it comes packaged properly, we wrap these ourselves before they go out. I've had a few where I honestly stopped to look at them before boxing them up, the grain on some of these is just ridiculous. Anyway, it's ready to give, you don't need to do anything extra.
How much does this weigh?
It's solid. 12.4 inches tall, olive wood is denser than people expect, it's got real heft to it.
How fast does shipping take?
Pretty standard, ships in a couple days usually. Free shipping if you're in the US and over fifty bucks. International takes longer, I'd say probably two weeks give or take.
Our church wants to order several of these as confirmation gifts, any flexibility on bulk orders?
Yeah reach out directly through the site and we'll figure something out. Confirmation is actually one of the bigger reasons people order these, we've shipped maybe thirty or forty in a single month before around that season, so it's not an unusual ask.
