About This Figure

She stands 25.2 inches tall and fills a room in a way that's hard to explain until you've seen it in person. The Virgin Mary, hand-carved from genuine olive wood from the Holy Land, her robes following the natural grain of the wood, her gaze turned downward in quiet prayer. This isn't a figure you put on a shelf and forget about. People stop when they see it.

These large wood sculptures for sale through our shop come directly from the Christian artisan families who carve them, no importers, no middlemen. Every stroke you see on this piece was made by hand in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Christ. At $3,000, this is a serious piece, the kind that gets passed down. We've sold a few of these over the years and every single buyer has told me the same thing: it looks different in their home than it does in any photo.

If you're looking for an olive wood handcarved virgin for sale that was actually made where it claims to be made, this is it. Carved here. Shipped from here. No shortcuts.

From Our Family to Yours

Hi, I'm Elias. I grew up watching these figures take shape in workshops not far from where I'm sitting right now. This particular statue, a large hand-carved Virgin Mary, is one of the pieces I'd call a life's work from the family who made it. I don't say that lightly. If you want an olive wood handcarved virgin you can order online and trust completely, this is the one I'd point you to.

Perfect As a Gift

A priest in Texas reached out after ordering one of our large Virgin Mary figures. He told me he'd placed it in the chapel entryway and that his parishioners asked about it every single week. That's the kind of gift that doesn't get put in a drawer. This is a figures gift idea for the person who already has everything, and means it.

It works for milestone moments too. A figures baptism gift, a figures confirmation gift, something to mark a wedding or a real anniversary. We've had buyers order for Easter, for Christmas, for dedications. Free US shipping on orders over $50 makes it easy to send directly to whoever you're giving it to.

The Story Behind It

Most large wood sculptures for sale online come from factories. This one doesn't. The family who carved this piece has been working with olive wood in Bethlehem for three generations. Same neighborhood, same tools handed down, same patience with the grain.

The olive wood itself comes from annual pruning of living trees. Nobody's cutting anything down. The trees keep growing, the families keep carving, and your order is part of what keeps that tradition alive. Unlike mass-produced imports, these figures are shaped entirely by hand, one chisel pass at a time, by people who grew up doing exactly this.

I've visited that workshop more times than I can count. What I remember most is the quiet. Just the sound of tools on wood and somebody's grandmother making coffee in the back. That's what you're bringing into your home with this piece, at least in my view.

Care Instructions

Olive wood is low maintenance. If the surface starts looking a little dry, rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a soft cloth and it comes right back. Don't soak it in water or leave it somewhere with big humidity swings. That's genuinely all it needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this actually from Bethlehem or just marketed that way?

Real olive wood. Carved by families I've worked with for years, right there in Bethlehem. Not imported blanks finished somewhere else, not a factory in another country slapping a label on it. I've visited these workshops. My dad knew some of these carvers before I did. The grain on each piece is different because it's a real tree, not a mold.

Does it come packaged well enough to give as a gift?

Yeah, it ships protected. I'd say add a nice box yourself if you want it looking fancy on the outside, but it's not gonna show up rattling around loose.

How heavy is it, can one person carry it easily?

So olive wood's dense, denser than people expect. At 25 inches tall this isn't light, you're not gonna tuck it under one arm like a paperback. It's a two-hands piece. Stable on its own though, it doesn't wobble. We actually had a customer ask if we could drill a mount hole in the base and... honestly I wouldn't, it stands fine.

How fast does it ship?

Pretty standard, ships in a couple days usually. Free shipping if you're in the US and over fifty bucks.

Is the wood finished or is it rough?

It's sanded and sealed, not rough. Smooth enough that the grain really shows, that's kind of the whole point with olive wood, the pattern does a lot of the work.
