About This Nativity Set

There's something different about holding a nativity scene from Bethlehem versus one that came off a factory line somewhere. The weight feels right. The grain on the wood is real. And the bark roof, that's not decorative, that's just what a shelter looked like.

This hand carved nativity set from Bethlehem sits at 4.1 x 5.5 x 3.5 inches, so it fits on a windowsill or a mantel without taking over the whole space. It's a nativity scene tabletop piece that actually looks like it belongs where you put it, not like something you have to work around.

If you're looking at nativities for sale online, most of what you find is mass-produced resin painted to look like wood. This isn't that. This is olive wood, shaped by hand, in the city where the story actually happened.

From Our Family to Yours

Hi, I'm Elias. I grew up around these pieces, literally, my father had nativity sets stacked on shelves in our front room every November. This bark roof style is one I've always liked best, it's simple and honest and it doesn't try to be fancy. Every set we ship goes out directly from our workshop near Manger Square, no middlemen involved.

Perfect As a Gift

A pastor in Texas ordered six of these a few years back, one for each family in his congregation who'd had a rough year. He emailed us in January to say every single one was still on display. That's what a good nativity crib set does, it stays out.

This is the kind of gift that works for almost any occasion. It's a nativities hand carved piece that people actually keep, not tuck in a closet. Free US shipping on orders over $50, and we ship worldwide from Bethlehem.

The Story Behind It

Most nativity scenes for sale online are cast resin, painted over, done in a factory somewhere. These are carved by hand in Bethlehem by families who've been doing this work for three generations. Same street, same tools, same craft passed from father to son.

The olive wood comes from trees that are pruned every year, so nothing gets cut down to make these. The xmas nativity scene you receive is made from wood that's a byproduct of keeping a living tree healthy. That matters to these families, and honestly, it matters to me too.

We source everything factory-direct. No importers, no showroom markups. The family carves it, we pack it, it ships to you. That's the whole chain.

Care Instructions

Olive wood is low maintenance. If the wood starts looking dry after a while, rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a cloth and it'll come right back. Don't soak it in water. That's really all there's to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order a few of these for gifts, do you box them up nice?

Yeah, they come packaged well enough for gifting. I'd say if you're giving it to someone who cares about where things are actually made, that's really the whole point here, it's a nativity scene from Bethlehem, not a generic shelf piece. We wrap them so they arrive safe, nothing gets banged up in transit.

Who actually carves these?

Christian artisan families in Bethlehem. Same ones we've worked with for years, my dad knew some of them before I started running this. The bark roof on this one isn't a design choice somebody made in a boardroom, it's just... how they build it. Anyway, these aren't factory pieces, you can tell when you hold one.

Shipping, how long roughly?

Pretty standard, ships in a couple days usually. Free shipping if you're in the US and over fifty bucks.

Is the wood grain on these consistent or does every piece look totally different?

Honestly, they vary. That's kind of the thing with hand carved nativity sets from Bethlehem, no two are identical. Some have a more pronounced grain, some are a bit smoother. I've unpacked a lot of these and I don't think I've seen two that looked exactly the same. Doesn't affect anything structurally, it's just the nature of real carved wood versus something stamped out of a mold.

What're the dimensions again?

4.1 x 5.5 x 3.5 inches. Tabletop size, fits a windowsill easy.
