The Story Behind It

Most nativity pieces you find online are factory-made somewhere far from Bethlehem, cast in resin, painted to look like wood. Ours aren't. This christmas crib nativity set came out of a workshop a short drive from Manger Square, shaped by the same Christian artisan families in Bethlehem who've been doing this for three generations.

The olive wood itself comes from annual pruning of living trees. Nobody's cutting anything down to make these. The trees keep growing, the families keep carving, and honestly that circularity is something I find myself thinking about more than I probably should.
