About This Ornament
Approximate Size: 6.0 cm H x 4.0 cm W x 4.0 cm D (2.4" x 1.6" x 1.6"), weight ~11g. Hand carved from a single piece of olive wood, so each ornament varies slightly in shape and grain.
Hold this in your hand and you'll feel the weight of it, 12 grams, small enough to sit in your palm. That's the Holy Family carved right into the center of a heart shape, done by hand from carved olive wood grown in the same soil where this story began.
It's a hand carved nativity ornament, but it doesn't feel like something you ordered online. It feels like something someone made. Because they did, right here in Bethlehem, using tools they've been working with their whole lives.
If you're looking for ornaments for sale that actually mean something, this is one of those. Every piece has its own grain pattern. No two look exactly alike, which I think is the point.
From Our Family to Yours
Hi, I'm Elias. I grew up watching the carvers work and I've been handling these wood carved nativity pieces since I was maybe eight years old. This heart shape is one I always come back to when someone asks me what to give a person they really love. It's simple, it's from Bethlehem, and it ships straight from our workshop to your door.

A teacher in Ohio ordered fifteen of these last December, one for every student in her Sunday school class. She told me the kids kept them on their backpacks all through the school year. That's the kind of thing that sticks with you.

The Story Behind It
This carved olive wood nativity ornament comes from a workshop in Bethlehem, a few minutes' walk from where the story it depicts actually happened. The families who carve these are Christian artisans, and most of them learned by watching a parent or grandparent do the same work.
Most Christmas ornaments from wood you find online are factory-made somewhere with machines. These are carved by hand, one at a time, by people who live in Bethlehem and have been doing this their whole lives. That difference shows up in the piece when you hold it.
The olive wood itself comes from annual pruning of living trees. Nobody's cutting anything down for this. The wood gets shaped into handcrafted christmas ornaments that, at least to me, carry something you can't get from a factory, a sense of where they came from and who made them.

Care Instructions
Olive wood is low maintenance. If it starts looking dry, rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a cloth and it'll come right back. Don't soak it in water and it'll last for years.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this actually from Bethlehem or is that just a marketing thing?
Yeah, genuinely. I've packed hundreds of these myself. The families carving them are the same ones my dad built relationships with years ago, they work out of small workshops in Bethlehem, not a factory somewhere else. The olive wood comes from that same region. It's not a label we slap on things, it's literally the whole point of why we exist.
How big is it?
Fits in your palm. About 12 grams, so it's got some weight to it without being heavy.
We're buying several of these for our church gift shop, any flexibility on price for bulk orders?
So reach out directly through the site and we can talk. Depends on quantities, honestly I'd say probably worth a conversation if you're doing more than 10 or 15 pieces.
Does it ship in something decent or just a plain bag?
Pretty standard packaging, ships in a couple days usually. Free shipping if you're in the US and over $100. It's not like, a big fancy box situation but it gets there safe.
Is this actually hand carved or is it machine cut with 'hand carved' written on the listing?
Real hand carved. Not machine cut. I actually keep one of these on my desk and if you look close you can see the slight variations in the line work around the figures, that's... actually that's the easiest way to tell. A machine makes every one identical. These aren't. The carver leaves tool marks you can feel if you run your thumb across it, it's subtle but it's there.
