The carver who makes this Holy Family piece has been doing it for over thirty years, working out of a workshop his father built. His son helps now with the finishing and the sanding.

The olive wood comes from annual pruning of living trees around the Bethlehem region. Nobody's cutting down anything. The trees keep growing, the pruned branches become wood for carving, and the families keep working. That cycle has been going for generations.
