About This Figure

Walk into a room where this is sitting and you'll feel it before you really look at it. St. Michael in full warrior stance, wings spread, one foot pressing down on evil. Carved from a single piece of solid olive wood from the Holy Land, 11 inches tall, heavy enough that you feel the weight when you pick it up.

This isn't a small devotional piece you tuck on a shelf and forget. It commands space. The etched armor, the posture, the detail in the wings. Every surface has grain running through it because it's real wood, not resin, not composite. If you're looking at wood carving sculptures for sale and wondering what the difference is between something made by hand versus something stamped out of a mold, this is the answer to that question.

These figures hand carved in Bethlehem come out different every time. Same carver, same design, different wood. That's not a flaw. That's the point. If you want something identical to the display model, this isn't for you. If you want something that nobody else on earth has exactly, it is.

From Our Family to Yours

Hi, I'm Elias. I've been around these carvings since I was old enough to stand in the workshop and watch. The St. Michael pieces are ones I always show people first when they visit, because the scale of it stops you. This is olive wood hand carved buy-direct from the artisan, no warehouses in between, straight from Bethlehem to your door. I pack some of these myself.

Perfect As a Gift

A priest in Texas reached out after ordering one of these for a retiring deacon. He said it arrived better than he expected and that the deacon kept it on his desk, not a shelf. That's the kind of piece this is. It's a figures gift idea that doesn't read as generic. It reads as chosen.

Whether it's a figures confirmation gift, a figures christmas gift, or something for a chapel dedication, this one lands differently than anything store-bought. Free US shipping on orders over $50, and we ship worldwide if you're ordering for someone overseas.

The Story Behind It

Most archangel saint michael statue pieces you find online are factory-made somewhere and finished by machine. Ours aren't. The carver who makes these learned the craft from his father, who learned it from his. That line goes back further than any of us can trace.

The olive wood itself comes from annual pruning of living trees. Nobody cuts a tree down for this. The families take what the orchards give each season and they work with it. That's why the grain looks different on every piece. It literally is different wood, different year, different branch.

I've watched these being carved. It's slow, careful work. The archangel st michael statue design is one of the harder ones because of the wings and the figure beneath his feet. The carver has to read the grain and plan around it. You can't rush that, and nobody here tries to.

These large wood sculptures for sale come direct from the workshop to you, no importers, no retail markups stacked on top of each other. That's why the price reflects the actual craft and not four middlemen taking a cut. Family-run since 2007, ships to 50+ countries.

Care Instructions

Olive wood is low maintenance. If the surface starts looking dry or dull, rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a soft cloth and let it absorb. Don't soak it in water or leave it somewhere with big temperature swings. That's really about all it needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this actually carved in Bethlehem or is that just marketing?

Yeah, genuinely. I've been doing this long enough that I can tell you exactly which families make these. My dad started working with them before I took over the shop. They're in Bethlehem, they've been carving olive wood their whole lives, and I've visited. It's not a warehouse situation, it's actual family workshops. The handmade olive wood thing isn't a label we slap on it.

Does it ship in a box that's safe enough to give as a gift?

It comes packed well, I'd say it's pretty giftable as-is. If you want something fancier for like a confirmation gift, just leave a note and we'll wrap it up a bit nicer.

How heavy is it?

Solid. Heavier than you'd expect. Olive wood's dense, this isn't hollow.

How fast does shipping take?

Pretty standard, ships in a couple days usually. Free shipping if you're in the US and over fifty bucks. I'd say most orders land within a week, sometimes a little more depending where you are.

Is the wood finish going to crack or dry out over time?

So olive wood does move a little with humidity, that's just the nature of it. We oil these before they go out, and honestly if you ever notice it looking a little dry just wipe it with a tiny bit of olive oil on a cloth. I've got one on my desk at home, been there two years, still looks the same as when it came off the carving bench.
