The Story Behind It

Most christmas tree ornaments wooden pieces you find online are factory-pressed somewhere, sanded smooth by machine, identical to the ten thousand next to them. Ours aren't. Each of these is shaped by hand, by the same Christian artisan families in Bethlehem who have been doing this work for decades.

The olive wood itself comes from annual pruning of living trees. Nobody cuts anything down for this. The families take what the trees give up each year and turn it into something worth keeping, and that's been the rhythm here for three generations at least.

I find that harder and harder to say about most things I see for sale. These handmade holiday ornaments carry a specific place in them, a specific set of hands. That matters to me, and I think it matters to the people who hang them on their trees year after year.

Olive wood is low maintenance. If it starts looking a little dry after a few seasons, just rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a cloth. Don't soak it in water and don't leave it sitting in direct heat for long stretches. That's about all it needs.
