Hang this above your front door and it does what a good home blessing should do. It says something without making a fuss about it. The words "God Bless Our Home" are raised right out of the wood grain in cursive, not printed, not painted, carved. Then there's the silver Madonna and Child in the upper right corner, and below that, a brass medallion holding a sealed capsule of Bethlehem frankincense. The same resin the Magi carried. That detail still gets me every time I pick one up.

This is a real olive wood wall hanging, hand-carved in Bethlehem, and you feel that the moment it's in your hands. Just under 200 grams of solid wood, a finish your thumb wants to slide across, and a pre-installed hanger on the back so it goes straight onto any nail. No extra hardware, no fussing around.

The Story Behind It

Most home blessing plaques you find online are factory-stamped, same grain, same weight, same everything. These aren't. The carving families we work with in Bethlehem have been doing this for three generations, and the wood itself comes from trees pruned on the hills just outside the city, near Beit Sahour. That's maybe a ten-minute drive from Manger Square.

The frankincense in that brass medallion isn't decorative. It's the same resin that's been traded out of this region for thousands of years, sealed right into the piece. When I was young, my father would explain that to customers and they'd go quiet for a second. Still happens now, at least with the ones paying attention.

Unlike imports stamped with "Holy Land" on a sticker, this olive wood wall hanging comes directly from the Christian artisan families who made it, through our family shop, with no middleman in between. That's the whole point of what we do here.

Care Instructions

Wipe it down with a dry cloth to keep the finish looking good. Avoid moisture and harsh cleaning chemicals around the brass and frankincense medallion especially. That's really all it needs.
