About This Holy Family
There's a moment in the Christmas story that doesn't get talked about enough. Not the manger, not the shepherds, not the star. The flight to Egypt. Mary and Joseph moving through the dark with everything they had, keeping the baby safe. That's the scene this large holy family statue captures, and whoever carved it understood the weight of that moment.
At 6.2 x 4.1 x 2.5 inches, this isn't something you squint at from across the room. It's real presence. Put it on a shelf, a mantle, a side table, and you'll actually see it. The grain in the olive wood does something to the light that photos don't really catch.
If you've been thinking about where to buy olive wood nativity art that actually comes from the Holy Land, this is about as direct as it gets. Carved by hand in Bethlehem, shipped to you from us. No warehouse in New Jersey, no factory overseas. For a holy family gift that tells a specific story rather than a generic one, people keep coming back to this piece.
From Our Family to Yours
Hi, I'm Elias. I grew up around these pieces, my father knew the carving families personally, and I've been running this shop since 2007. This Flight to Egypt statue is one I keep coming back to. There's something about the way the carver got the movement right, Joseph leaning forward, Mary holding on, the whole thing in motion. If you're looking to holy family order online from the actual place the story happened, you're in the right spot. Every piece ships directly from us, near Manger Square.

Perfect As a Gift
A customer in Ohio wrote to me last December. She'd ordered this for her daughter's first married Christmas and said her daughter cried when she opened it, the good kind. That's the kind of thing that stays with you when you're packing boxes at midnight before the holidays.
This works as a holy family christmas gift, obviously, but people order it year-round. A holy family baptism gift for a new family, a holy family confirmation gift for a teenager, a holy family wedding gift for a couple just starting out. It fits all of those moments. Free US shipping over $100, and we ship to 50+ countries worldwide.

The Story Behind It
Most nativity crib set figures you find online are factory-made somewhere with no connection to the story they're supposed to tell. Ours aren't. The families who carve these pieces live and work in Bethlehem, a few miles from where the events actually happened. That's not a marketing line, it's just geography.
The olive wood itself comes from annual pruning of living trees. Nobody's cutting anything down. The trees keep growing, they get pruned every year anyway, and the wood that would otherwise be discarded becomes this. The carving families have been working this way for three generations, and when you buy a nativity set through us, you're keeping that going directly. No importers in the middle, no markups along the way. Factory-direct pricing because it actually is factory-direct.
I visited one of the workshops a while back and watched a carver roughing out a figure like this one. He was doing it by feel as much as by eye. Forty years of muscle memory. His son was across the room finishing a piece with sandpaper, and I thought, this is a xmas nativity set with an actual address. That matters to me, at least.

Care Instructions
Olive wood's low maintenance. If it starts looking dry after a few years, rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a cloth and that's all it needs. Don't soak it in water. That's about it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it come in a gift box or do I need to package it myself?
It comes wrapped, yeah. We pack these ourselves and we don't just toss them in a bag. If you're giving it as a gift it's pretty much ready to go, though I'd say most people add their own box if they want something fancy.
Is this real olive wood or just stained to look like it?
Real olive wood. You can see the grain variation in every single one, no two look identical, that's actually how you know.
Do you do any kind of discount if we're ordering several of these for a church or group?
So the honest answer is reach out directly. I'm not running some automated bulk pricing system, it's just me. If you're ordering a handful of these I can usually work something out. The flight to Egypt piece is actually one of the ones I get repeat orders on, churches especially seem to gravitate toward it because it's a scene people recognize but don't see on every shelf. Anyway, just shoot me a message with what you're thinking quantity-wise and we'll figure it out.
How does shipping work?
Free shipping in the US if you're over $100. Ships in a couple days usually, most orders arrive within a week or so.
Can you tell me roughly how heavy this is? I want to make sure it feels substantial and not cheap.
It's got real weight to it, olive wood is denser than most people expect. At 6.2 inches tall it's not a novelty piece, it sits solid on a shelf. I keep one on my desk actually and the weight is one of the first things people comment on when they pick it up.
