Most wood carving sculptures for sale online come out of bulk import operations. Ours don't. The families carving these pieces live within a few kilometers of where the olive trees themselves grow, in and around Bethlehem. They're not cutting trees down for it either. The wood comes from annual pruning of living trees, branches that would otherwise be cleared away.

Three generations in, these carvers know olive wood the way a baker knows dough. They know which sections will have the tightest grain, which pieces will polish to a warmer tone. Care Instructions

Olive wood is low maintenance. If the surface starts looking a little dry or dull, rub a small drop of olive oil into it with a soft cloth and it comes right back. Don't soak it in water and don't leave it somewhere with extreme humidity swings. That's really about it.
